Café Cornell is a community café and operates as a
work-based training academy based in Saffron Walden.
They are part of the Enterprise East Group CIC. Café Cornell
works with vulnerable adults with a multitude of barriers to
employment including learning difficulties.
Recently Café Cornell came for a visit here at the ASU. They
brought along 7 students for a one-to-one session with the
animals here at the ASU. The students got the chance to
feed the goats, meet the pigs and piglets, handle our reptiles
and meet some of our small animals.
Animals are used with people with learning difficulties such as ADHD and autism as they can help to encourage the development of long-term methods to help with issues such as emotional regulation and emotional retention. Animals also have the ability to manage hormone levels is effective in supporting people experiencing sensory overload.
