The ASU offers a variety of course to learners of different ages at post 16 these are currently:

City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate, Extended Certificate and Diploma in Animal Care

City and Guilds Level 3 Certificate, Subsidiary Diploma, 90-Credit Diploma, Diploma and Extended Diploma in Animal Management

Sixth Form Course

 

Courses

The ASU offers two Sixth Form courses open to year 12s and year 13. 

The two Sixth Form courser which we offer are a City and Guilds Level 2 in Animal Care and a Level 3 in Animal Management. The two course which we offer are available to year 12's giving students the opportunity to do either level 2 or level 3. 

Level 2

The Level 2 animal care course is aimed at students who wish to work in the animal care industry or progress to further learning and/or training in this sector. Students may progress to Level 3 qualifications such as Technical Levels. Alternatively, students could progress into employment or an apprenticeship. 

To be able to enroll on this course students must have a minmum of 5 GCSEs with a score of 4.

When completing the course students will complete units such as: 

  • Animal nursing

  • Caring for Exotic animals

  • Animal accomidation 

The level 2 allows students to get experince in handling the variety of animals we have at the ASU, for students to learn about the many type of ways to keep animals such as livestock, as well as letting students work with animals in the livestock industry they may not be able to otherwise. 

The Level 2 ccourse which we offer is a one year course and after completion students can progress onto the level 3 couse

Level 3

The Level 3 Animal Managment coursen is aimed at students who may wish to work in the animal management industry, or progress to further learning and/or training in this sector. Career progression may include an Advanced Apprenticeship in Animal Management, or a related university degree. Students will gain a broad scientific and practical introduction to handling and caring for a range of farm and small animals, together with related work experience.

To be able to enroll on this course students must have a minmum of 5 GCSEs with a score of 4.

When completing the course students will complete units such as: 

  • Animal Health and Husbandry 

  • Animal Behaviour and Communication

  • Animal welfare and beeding

The level 3 allows students to get further experince in handling the variety of animals we have at the ASU, for students to get a wider understanding of animals care and welfare as well as a higher understandign of the Agricultural industy and how it works.

The Level 3 course which we offere here at the ASU is a two year course and the chance for higher education in universities.
